LIBPF NG
The LIBPF NG optional module contains application-specific models and specialized physical property models for Natural Gas applications.
With respect to the detailed list of modelling features or LIBPF CORE, LIBPF NG adds:
-
GERG-2004 (O. Kunz, R. Klimeck, W. Wagner and M. Jaeschke, "The GERG-2004 Wide-Range Equation of State for Natural Gases and Other Mixtures", GERG TM15 2007) equation of state;
-
predictive compositional models for the explodibility ranges of natural gas / inert gases mixtures;
-
caloric properties of natural gas according to INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ISO 6976:1995 “Natural gas — Calculation of calorific values, density, relative density and Wobbe index from composition”.
The typical application is (together with the LIBPF OPC or LIBPF OPCUA modules) to create soft-sensors which calculate certain useful properties for a material stream composed of short-chain hydrocarbons:
-
Lower / higher heating value and Wobbe-Index;
-
Explodibility-related quantities such as LEL / UEL (lower and upper explosive limits) and LOC (limiting oxygen content);
-
Density, compression factor and temperature / pressure dew-point and bubble-point with the GERG-2004 equation of state.
The soft-sensor will consume the real-time composition data of the process stream measured by a process gas-chromatograph or other process analytic device.
The module can be used to:
- complement or extend a fiscal metering solution;
- an on-line diagnostic tool to protect against the formation of hydrocarbon liquid condensate;
- an on-line diagnostic tool for inerting of hydrocarbon storage (CEN/TR 15281:2006 Guidance on Inerting for the Prevention of Explosions).
